Home School Community Liaison (HSCL)

Home School Community Liaison Information

Mrs. Máire McDonald is the school’s Home, School, Community  Liaison Coordinator. She is a member of the teaching staff of the school.

What is HSCL?

The idea behind HSCL is to provide a link between home, school and the community in a number of ways. ‘ Home-visits’ are offered throughout the school  year, as a means of bridging the gap between home and school. Support and advice when needed are also offered to parents.

Mrs. McDonald will run courses and classes for parents, from card making, beauty and diet, first aid, computer classes etc. You are very welcome to join us. You will be informed of other courses throughout the year.

Mrs. McDonald will organise parents coming into the classroom to work with pupils, e.g. reading with the junior infant classes.

She will run various programmes for our pupils, e.g. Seasons for Growth, Map Programme and our Circle group. These programmes  are planned  for different age groups and take place during the school day, throughout the year. The HSCL Coordinator links in with parents before any pupil takes part in these programmes.

Community Links

Links with local community organisations and groups are also part of the work of the HSCL Coordinator. This is to help provide as much support as possible to parents and help them avail of local supports.

You are welcome to call to Mrs. McDonald in the Parents/HSCL Room, near the main school gate.  Alternatively, you can call her on 086 0382028 anytime to make an appointment.

Our Parents Room is open daily from 9.00am – 2.40 p.m. where you can drop in and have a coffee, you are all very welcome to use this room.
